Catch-Up & Funny Stories

I promised to keep you updated, but I never promised that my posts would be in order! Here are some recent pics and funny little "Stories" from Mason.

Hudson is getting pretty good at sitting up lately. He also loves reaching for things and chewing on anything in sight.

The other day Mason had a huge burp. You could tell there was a little reflux going on because he had to swallow afterwards. He looked up at me and goes, "Hmm. Taste like apple!"

Mason came running into the living room today and to show me something. He climbed up on the sofa and pulled his foot up. He pointed to a freckle and proceeded to try and pull it off. Apparently it was the first time he had seen his little freckle and it really fascinated him.

He enjoyed setting up the couch cousins as his slide!

SNOW DAY!!!

We had our first real snow fall of the season this week, and it was a good one! When Mason woke up and looked out his window, he was a little upset that the snow was all over his things, but he was alright when he proclaimed that it was time for "Hot Chochlate"! Chris was able to get home from work early and we all enjoyed playing outside. Mason and Hudson went sledding down the front hill, and then Mason worked up the nerve to go down the big hill in the neighborhood. The boys even built a snow fort, or as Mason calls it, "Beto's House". Hope you enjoy the pics. (ps - I have a video but I need to learn how to convert it to post)

After a great day playing in the snow, Chris made a fire and we ate our dinner picnic-style in the living room.

Tea Time

I don't know if it is a learned behavior or something that was genetically inherited but Mason loves having Tea. Whenever he plays in his kitchen he always making tea, usually accompanied with cookies. If people come over to visit, he is quick to bring them a beautiful blue plastic cup filled with delicious tea. After he sips from his cup, he is always sure to follow it up with a, "Mmm, nummy!" Well, apparently his tastes are becoming more refined. The other night as we were sitting down to diner he pulled one of the dining room chairs over to the server and proceeded to pour us all tea from the silver tea service. I better book our flight to London for Tea at the Savoy!

Cleaning Binge

Mason has really been into cleaning for quite a while now. He loves his spray bottle and towels, and vacuums several times a day. Lately he has also enjoyed rearranging. In the past two days he has moved the furniture around the basement, moved his kitchen into another room, slid his bookshelf into the dining room and carried the coffee table into the foyer. Not really sure why -- I guess he needs a change (or at least some warmer weather!).

Nature Center

So, there has been some talk in our county recently that they are planning on closing and demolishing one of the Nature Centers. It has really stirred up some intense controversy. I decided to take the boys today and see what the Nature Center had to offer. It was a chilly day, but we had a great time!

Mason loved looking at the lizards, fish, turtles, frogs, and even an owl!

They had an original log cabin.

So after a great day at the Nature Center I signed the petition to keep it open!

Mom-Mom & Poppy's

Here are a few pics from a recent trip to Mom-Mom & Poppy's. We had a great time celebrating February birthdays -- Happy Birthday Jen, Dennis and Jeff!!!

Mason loved cleaning all of the new trucks he and Poppy found.

Hudson loved the exersaucer.

Mason really enjoyed the chocolate ice cream cone that Poppy let him eat in the car

American History Museum - Washington, DC

Today Chris and I took the boys downtown to the American History Museum. It just reopened after being closed for several years, and they did a great job. There are so many hands-on exhibits for the kids. Every time we went to another exhibit Mason would call out, "No Home! No Home!"

The first exhibit we went through was all about transportation. Mason thought it was great, especially since he has a new obsession with Disney's Cars movie. He especially loves "Mack" the tractor trailer. He was so impressed when he saw the real trucks, trains, trolleys and subways in the museum. We even got to sit on the subway car!

We then went through the Inventions area. This had many activities for us to do. We made our own pinball trail, stacked blocks on the topsy-turvey table, made an inventor's hat, even played some musical instruments and made electricity.

Other highlights:
* The original flag that prompted Francis Scott Key to write the national anthem
* Oscar the grouch and Dumbo's ride
* Lincoln's top hat
* Water turbines

After the museum we stopped in Georgetown for a delicious frozen tart yogurt, YUMMY! and then headed home. Mason took a nap while Chris and I and Hudson sat out on the front porch soaking up the sun's rays and enjoying the near 60 degree temp.

After Mason woke up we walked to the park and played for a while. Then came home, had dinner, watched the Super Bowl, and then off to bed!
