Cleaning Binge

Mason has really been into cleaning for quite a while now. He loves his spray bottle and towels, and vacuums several times a day. Lately he has also enjoyed rearranging. In the past two days he has moved the furniture around the basement, moved his kitchen into another room, slid his bookshelf into the dining room and carried the coffee table into the foyer. Not really sure why -- I guess he needs a change (or at least some warmer weather!).

Nature Center

So, there has been some talk in our county recently that they are planning on closing and demolishing one of the Nature Centers. It has really stirred up some intense controversy. I decided to take the boys today and see what the Nature Center had to offer. It was a chilly day, but we had a great time!

Mason loved looking at the lizards, fish, turtles, frogs, and even an owl!

They had an original log cabin.

So after a great day at the Nature Center I signed the petition to keep it open!

Mom-Mom & Poppy's

Here are a few pics from a recent trip to Mom-Mom & Poppy's. We had a great time celebrating February birthdays -- Happy Birthday Jen, Dennis and Jeff!!!

Mason loved cleaning all of the new trucks he and Poppy found.

Hudson loved the exersaucer.

Mason really enjoyed the chocolate ice cream cone that Poppy let him eat in the car

American History Museum - Washington, DC

Today Chris and I took the boys downtown to the American History Museum. It just reopened after being closed for several years, and they did a great job. There are so many hands-on exhibits for the kids. Every time we went to another exhibit Mason would call out, "No Home! No Home!"

The first exhibit we went through was all about transportation. Mason thought it was great, especially since he has a new obsession with Disney's Cars movie. He especially loves "Mack" the tractor trailer. He was so impressed when he saw the real trucks, trains, trolleys and subways in the museum. We even got to sit on the subway car!

We then went through the Inventions area. This had many activities for us to do. We made our own pinball trail, stacked blocks on the topsy-turvey table, made an inventor's hat, even played some musical instruments and made electricity.

Other highlights:
* The original flag that prompted Francis Scott Key to write the national anthem
* Oscar the grouch and Dumbo's ride
* Lincoln's top hat
* Water turbines

After the museum we stopped in Georgetown for a delicious frozen tart yogurt, YUMMY! and then headed home. Mason took a nap while Chris and I and Hudson sat out on the front porch soaking up the sun's rays and enjoying the near 60 degree temp.

After Mason woke up we walked to the park and played for a while. Then came home, had dinner, watched the Super Bowl, and then off to bed!
