Today Chris and I took the boys downtown to the American History Museum. It just reopened after being closed for several years, and they did a great job. There are so many hands-on exhibits for the kids. Every time we went to another exhibit Mason would call out, "No Home! No Home!"
The first exhibit we went through was all about transportation. Mason thought it was great, especially since he has a new obsession with Disney's Cars movie. He especially loves "Mack" the tractor trailer. He was so impressed when he saw the real trucks, trains, trolleys and subways in the museum. We even got to sit on the subway car!

We then went through the Inventions area. This had many activities for us to do. We made our own pinball trail, stacked blocks on the topsy-turvey table, made an inventor's hat, even played some musical instruments and made electricity.
Other highlights:
* The original flag that prompted Francis Scott Key to write the national anthem
* Oscar the grouch and Dumbo's ride
* Lincoln's top hat
* Water turbines
After the museum we stopped in Georgetown for a delicious frozen tart yogurt, YUMMY! and then headed home. Mason took a nap while Chris and I and Hudson sat out on the front porch soaking up the sun's rays and enjoying the near 60 degree temp.
After Mason woke up we walked to the park and played for a while. Then came home, had dinner, watched the Super Bowl, and then off to bed!
Reminds me of when Dennis and I took Trevor to a Phantoms hockey game...he was SO unimpressed with the game (that we spent $ on) and wanted to instead ride the subway for hours on end (basically free). I love how little kids are obsessed with things that go. Imagine how happy he'd be if you took the Metro to Union Station, Amtrak to Philly, then the trolley to my house! We should plan that sometime.
